The Amundsen Shorts Guide
FIND YOUR LENTGTH
Our range of shorts run from 3” to 8”, measured along the inside of the leg. A simple system that lets you fine-tune length and silhouette to how you move.
Not sure what suits your stride or your quads? We’ll guide you.
Finding your length
Men’s styles are offered in 5”, 7” and 8”.
Women’s styles typically come in 3”, 4", 5” and 6”.
The rule of thumb? Your shorts should land a few inches above the kneecap. Any longer, and you’re in knickerbocker territory.
For men
5”: For the bold or the not-so-tall. Hits mid-thigh. Shows some leg, moves easy. Great for 5'9" and under, or anyone who’s not afraid of a little sun on the quads.
7”: The sweet spot. Not too short, not too long—just above the knee. Best for guys 5'10" and up, or those who like a bit more coverage without the dad vibes.
8”: A touch longer. More classic, more relaxed. Built for the trail, the mountains, everyday wear
For women
3-4”: Minimal, airy, built for heat and full freedom of movement
5”: Balanced and versatile. A mid-thigh cut that moves easy, works across activity and downtime
6”: A touch more coverage. Still athletic, slightly more relaxed in expression

What do the inch lengths mean?
Length is defined by the inseam, measured from the crotch down the inside of the thigh. The lower the number, the shorter the short.
1 inch equals 2.54 cm — useful when comparing lengths:
3” ≈ 7.6 cm
5” ≈ 12.7 cm
6” ≈ 15.2 cm
7” ≈ 17.8 cm
8” ≈ 20.3 cm

PATINA - THE CHARACTER THAT COMES OVER TIME
There is a story behind each imperfection. We believe clothes should be used and abused ultimately forming a connection with the wearer, with memories of adventure flooding your mind each time you put on one of those well-worn pieces. We believe clothing is meant to serve you, not vice versa – so, don’t be cautious or hold back, each Amundsen piece has been put to the test and is ready for whatever you throw at it. The patina of use is a beautiful thing, giving our garments character which can only be earned through adventure.
