The QUEST FOR QUAINT

Crossing Britain with Ronnie Romance

Ronnie, Ron, Ultra Romance… what ever you call him he is hard to miss. The vintage bikes, bushy beard, short shorts and thick sweaters…. His romantic and self-governed life is suggestive of times past.

This summer, with the help of our friends from England's legendary cycling company, Brooks, we joined him on a Quest for Quaint. Together, we crossed the UK in search of overlooked places, enduring character, and the kind of charm that rewards those willing to take the scenic route.

Quaint [kʰweɪ̯nt]

Pleasingly, strikingly old-fashioned or unfamiliar in character or appearance.

«The name Ronnie is my fourth name in life. All over the country and the places that I've lived and the people that I've met, they all call me by different names.»

“There are ways that you can interact with the road surface or the trail in a way that feels as if you’re making love to it. You have that romantic feeling, that you want to just keep on riding all day long because it feels so good.»  - Ronnie Romance

«We're just going to try and find everything cute and quaint that we can muster.»

"The way I ride my bikes, I take that idea of romanticism and apply it to my art form, which, in my own head, is riding my bicycle."

«If you call yourself a cyclist, people think that means you got the spandex kit and you’re shaving your legs. For me, you erase that barrier of entry where you don’t need to put on anything specific. I just wanna go for a bike ride. And wear normal shorts. The waxed canvas on leather. Perfect.» - Ronnie Romance
