James Snell wrote a post on how to make BATCH work over HTTP. Bill De hOra responded with some reservations.
i say "no." batching (done this way) is wrong-headed (IMHO).
instead, the pattern should be based on creating and managing jobs on the server. the HTTPLR is much closer to what i think should be happening here.
