i don't like mowing
i put off mowing the lawn this weekend until after dinner tonight. jeeze, i hate doing the lawn in this hot, muggy weather! i usually enjoy my time out in the yard w/ my (relatively) quiet electric mower. even though finagling the long power cord is a bit of a pain. but during the month of august, when the days are in the C30+ range (F90+), it's just a bummer.
i was out in the yard for about 45 minutes and, about halfway into the work, i was sweating like mad. sure, it's a good way to loose a few pounds (i can sure use that), but not a very pleasant way to do it. i mean out there in the front yard where your neighbors can see you huffing and puffing and just melting away into a puddle? really not cool. anyway, i got the job done and came in for a nice cold shower followed by a cold glass of water. and i feel much better.
btw - several parts of the lawn are now just matted brown dead tufts of what used to be nice green turf. this dry summer has been terrible on my lawn. i worked really hard two years ago to revitalize it by digging out the old dead parts, reseeding in the fall and nurturing it back to health. but this summer did it in again. it's lookin' bad. i'll have a lot of work again this fall if i want to bring it back up to snuff.
