philip k. dick piece on npr
i just heard another piece about one of my favorite 60's authors - philip k. dick - on npr this evening. this one is about a newly edited collection of some of his stories - not bad stuff.
i've always liked his work. really more social commentary than science fiction. and that's what makes him so interesting to me (as a writer). his personal life was a complete mess (drugs, money, relationships - all handled terribly) and that is what many focus on when speaking about him. but, to me, that's not the point. it's his writing that rings true to me.
if you've not checked him out, you should. just starting with his entry at wikipedia and at imdb gives you a pretty good idea of his influence.
